Asbestosis is a peculiar medical condition which is characterised by disease of the lungs. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos dust as well as asbestos fibre. It occurs when there is the inhalation of asbestos duster fibre to the extent that they become clogged inside the lungs causing fibrosis of the tissues and make the lungs more restrictive. This restrictiveness or rigidity of the lungs causes it to become difficult to inhale and exhale air.

Common symptoms of this condition include dry cough, tiredness, chest pain, shortness of breath, etc. It typically takes about 5 to 20 years for these symptoms to manifest after an individual has been exposed to asbestos fibres. It is also within this period that the fibrosis begins to deteriorate little by little, and the symptoms worsen as time goes on.

Generally, asbestosis claims are not time-bound. You can bring up a claim for damages at any time. However, the victim who may or may not be the client must be alive at the time when a claim for damages is advanced.

At 11th Floor, we treat all claims with utmost urgency with the doctor’s consent, of course, until the disability level rising from the medical condition is affirmed.
